The Council:

1. Continues to support the Dwellingup Community Compact’s objective to create a protection zone around the Dwellingup town-site and key trails and recreational precincts, such as Lane Poole Reserve:

2. Requests Alcoa commence formal negotiations with the community and key stakeholders including the Shire of Murray, Dwellingup Community Compact and Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions with a view to discuss the protection of key areas that are deemed vitally important to the community and that this occur in 2018;

3. That a protection zone of the formation of ‘no-go’ mining zones be established following those negotiations; and

4. Thanks the Peel Regional Leaders Forum for grant funding of $5000 towards mapping of key ‘no-go’ mining zones, and that the remainder of required funds to undertake this process be used from the Consultancies – Governance account.
